Today we’ve got the iClever BoostSound IC-BTS08 Bluetooth speaker for review. It’s a 20W portable speaker that features the latest Bluetooth version (4.2) along with a 4000mAh built-in rechargeable battery that can give a very generous 12 hours playback from just 3 hours charging.
Over the past few months we’ve had a few iClever Bluetooth speakers come our way for review, we had the pleasure of testing and reviewing previous models like the IC-BTS02, the IC-BTS03 and the IC-BTS04 Bluetooth speaker – but this one is without a doubt my favourite out of the bunch.
iClever IC-BTS08 Design
The first thing you’ll notice is the overall weight of the speaker itself, it’s a lot heavier than the other portable speakers we’ve reviewed from iClever. But in all fairness, if you’re packing 2x10W drivers and a 4000mAh battery into a portable speaker – it’s always going to be on the heavier side. Overall, it feels extremely solid while still remaining portable.
Design wise, the iClever IC-BTS08 comes in a two tone red and black finish. The top and bottom panels are black while a red speaker mesh wraps around the entire enclosure. Four touch sensitive control buttons sit along the top panel, these include (from the left) the previous track/volume down button, the Bluetooth pairing/speakerphone button, the play/pause button and the skip forward/volume up button.
On the rear panel you’ll find the on/off toggle switch, the USB charging port and the 3.5mm socket. The iClever IC-BTS08 sits flush on any table or surface thanks to the four rubber feet on the bottom panel – even at full volume the speaker doesn’t move around at all.
IC-BTS08 Connectivity and Audio
The iClever IC-BTS08 Bluetooth speaker is the second portable speaker with Bluetooth v4.2 we’ve tested in the past month, this update to the previous version brings a much appreciated boost in wireless transfer speeds – 250% to be exact according to this article. As far as pairing goes, I had this connected to my Samsung Galaxy S6 in about 3 seconds.
The speaker goes into Bluetooth mode as soon as it’s switched on so all you need to do is open your mobile phone’s connection list and choose the IC-BTS08 to get connected, iClever recommends a maximum wireless distance of up to 10m but I can guarantee you it will go further – I’ve been using it outdoors and was able to get it to go a bit further than 12m before there was any signal degradation.
Audio quality: The overall volume level this speaker pumps out is very impressive, even at 80% volume it sounds a lot louder than most of the speakers we’ve tested in this price range. The mids and highs are spot on, it remained crisp and clean even when cranked up to maximum volume. Bass wise, the IC-BTS08 does pack a solid boom but for its size I was expecting a bit more boom for the buck.
iClever IC-BTS08 Battery Life
According to the iClever manual, you should get up to 12 hours playtime from the 4000mAh rechargeable battery but for me it fell just a tad short. I got 11 hours and 14minutes, this was at 70% volume. All in all, I was very pleased with the battery life considering it recharges in under 3.5 hours.

The iClever IC-BTS08 Bluetooth speaker is without a doubt the best iClever speaker we’ve reviewed so far. Because of its size and weight , I would recommend this portable speaker to anyone looking for an affordable and powerful Bluetooth speaker for home use – if you’re after something that’s easier to transport then the iClever IC-BTS04 might be a better option for you.
