Kitound Tilt Unboxing

Unlike the KS Hive 2 speaker, the Tilt was very easy to unbox while keeping the box intact. Contents include: the KS Tilt speaker, the user manual, a 3.5mm audio cable and a USB charging cable, pretty standard stuff you can expect to find with other budget Bluetooth speakers as well.

KitSound Tilt – Design

The KitSound Tilt Bluetooth speaker features an interesting combination of classic and modern design patterns. The speaker’s rectangular shape and sober design lines contribute to its classic appearance, but a bold colour combination adds a modern and playful touch to this wireless speaker.

The KitSound Tilt features a turquoise body, which contrasts with the bright yellow tone of the metallic grille and the control buttons. This bold colour scheme is somehow toned down with the addition of two thin panels in solid black, located along the speaker’s top and the bottom.

The volume, track, call handling, and play/pause controls are fully responsive, have a generous size, and are conveniently placed on the top panel.

Overall, the first impression that one gets when holding the KitSound Tilt for the first time is that this is a compact and solid device that has been built with a focus on portability. The speaker’s dimensions are approximately 6 x 3 x 2.5 inches.

KitSound Tilt – Audio

KitSound has marketed this Bluetooth speaker as a device created to “make some noise”, and there seems to be some truth to that statement, since the lowest volume setting appeared to be louder than in other wireless speakers. The Tilt’s total RMS output is 6 Watts, which is average for a device within this price range.

Upon testing, audio quality was surprisingly good considering the speaker’s size and wattage. In particular, bass notes were accurately reproduced, which makes the KitSound Tilt a good choice for gamers too. There is also a built-in microphone on the upper left corner of the device, which enables hands-free call handling.

A useful feature that is worth mentioning is that this speaker detects incoming voice calls and automatically pauses any music that may be playing at the time, so you won’t have to fiddle with the control buttons. Voice calls were tested in an indoor space and sound quality was perfectly clear, with no echo, lag, or distortion whatsoever.

KitSound Tilt – Connectivity Options

The KitSound Tilt supports Bluetooth 3.0, NFC, and line-in connections, and is therefore compatible with smartphones, tablets, TVs, laptops, gaming consoles, and desktops. Once the speaker is paired to the device of your choice, the Bluetooth connection holds up over a range of 10 metres (32 feet), as long as there are no walls or other obstacles on the way.

Instant pairing is also available via NFC, just switch on NFC on your mobile phone and touch it to the NFC icon on your speaker and that’s it you’re connected.

KitSound Tilt – Battery Life

The KitSound Tilt Bluetooth speaker comes with a 1,200mAh battery, which can be charged using the micro USB cable provided.

A full charge takes approximately 4 hours to complete and can deliver up to 6 hours of non-stop playtime, which makes this KitSound speaker suitable for use while you are at home but also when you are on the move, as you can take it on camping trips, beach days out, or use it during garden parties, festivals, and other outdoor gatherings where a wireless speaker is a must.

I’m pretty pleased with this purchase, the KitSound Tilt has all the essentials you could want in a budget Bluetooth speaker. Audio playback from the KS Tilt was very good but it does get a bit uncomfortable to listen to when the volume is above 80%, other than that a very sturdy device that’s easy to carry around and enjoy.
