1Oittm Realsound Design
The packaging can be a bit deceiving when you first receive the speaker, but as soon as you open it up you can tell it’s a solid product that’s built to last – its got a really expensive look to it. Measuring in at 22cm tall and 6.5cm in diameter, the Oittm Realsound Bluetooth speaker looks like the Amazon Echo and the JBL Pulse wrapped up in one.
The LEDs are built into the speaker, so you won’t notice them until you turn it on, but then when you do, it looks amazing, especially in low-light and dark areas. In all fairness, I review speakers pretty much all day and I’ve seen all shapes and sizes in the past and yet I’m still fascinated by the looks of this speaker when it’s playing.
At the top of the speaker (or the side, depending on how you position it) is where all the touch sensitive function buttons are located. These include the lightshow on/off/pattern select button, the play/pause button, the next track button, the previous track button, the volume up button and the volume down button.
I really like the fact that the skip buttons and volume select buttons are separate, I’ve skipped too many songs while trying to turn the volume up on other portable speakers. Sitting just above the base is the on/off button, charging port, mic and AUX port – while the base itself has a rubber ring to provide stability. Overall, it’s a very well-built speaker that looks great and feels really durable.
2Oittm Realsound Audio
As much as the lightshow stands out, the audio is where the Oittm Realsound truly shines – it features 2x8W drivers along with a passive subwoofer which combine together to delivered a loud, room-filling sound that’s free from distortion even at high volumes. The bass is very deep as well, I’ve been using this speaker to watch movies over the weekend and the bass was so good that I could literally feel every explosion on the TV.
Speakerphone testing: As I mentioned in my last review, this is a feature I tend to skip when reviewing budget Bluetooth speakers – but being a mid-priced device I feel it’s justifiable to give this one a go.
Answering a call was simple, I just needed to press the button on top to accept the call – the audio quality of the call was pretty much identical to the speakerphone function on my Samsung Galaxy S6. I was told there was a very faint background noise on the other end but nothing to worry too much about.
3Oittm Realsound Battery Life
With all the bright lights and powerful sound, I expected this speaker to suck up battery life like no other – but to my surprise it lasted surprisingly long.
According to the Oittm Realsound Bluetooth speaker manual, you should be able to get up to 10 hours from the 3600mAh rechargeable battery – mine fell a bit short of that coming in at 8hours 37minutes. Still very respectable considering I’ve been using it at 70% volume.
Tip: The speaker came completely flat, the first time I tried charging it with my Samsung charger the LED charging status light kept blinking for some reason. If this happens to you, you’ll need to use the USB cable it came with to give it an initial charge instead of some other random charger.
4Oittm Realsound Connectivity
It’s easy to pair any Bluetooth-enabled device to this speaker. Just turn them both on, wait for the device to find the Oittm Realsound signal and then click on it. The whole process should take about five seconds and only needs to be done once as the speaker will remember the last device it was paired with and automatically reconnect each time you try to use it again.
This speaker uses Bluetooth 4.0 technology, so the wireless range is pretty good at 10m – so far I haven’t had any problems with stuttering or dropouts and it even works in separate rooms from the audio streaming source. Aside from Bluetooth, there’s an AUX port for your older devices that don’t support Bluetooth, this can also be used to connect a TV, laptop or PC that doesn’t have Bluetooth.
Note: Some other reviewers have been complaining about the startup notification of this speaker, I don’t know if I’ve received a newer model or if they’re shipping them without the notification now, but the review sample I received doesn’t have any voice prompt – which I’m really pleased with.

6Oittm Realsound Verdict
I’ve tested out lots of portable speakers over the past few weeks, but this one has really caught my eye, both literally and figuratively. The lightshow looks great, and I love that you can turn it off by holding the button down rather than having to cycle through all the modes first. It’s really loud, too, which is something that always makes me happy in a speaker.
